Straw chopper blades: About technology

Specially coated counter-knives for straw chopper mills complete the product range group of these high-quality cutting tools. Various high-tech processes and forms are used for coating, which are adapted to the respective load and the corresponding wear behavior of the knives. For example, laser additive welding and thermal spraying are used as coating processes.

Depending on the purpose of use and the harvesting machine, different surfaces are advantageous. Our counter blade range is offered oiled or powder coated. The surface sealings ensure the best possible preservation or protection of the counter blade surfaces. Longer storages of the counter blades are possible without any loss of quality.

We consistently use the highest quality steels. We use wear-resistant chrome vanadium material as the base material for our counter blades and cutting tools. These modern, tough steel materials have proven themselves over many years and show maximum load bearing capacities, abrasion resistances and product lifes.
Depending on the machine type and application, the counter blades are martensitically or bainitically hardened. The blades are both zone hardened as well as completely through hardened. This it what makes these blades essential high-performance cutting tools, which are required for the use in straw chopper plants and in agricultural machineries.
